The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture offers meaningful work supporting a competitive and sustainable agriculture sector through extension services and programming for farmers, ranchers, agribusinesses and Indigenous communities. The Regional Services Branch is seeking an Agri Environmental Specialist in Prince Albert to lead extension efforts and support adoption of best management practices, while delivering Sustainable CAP programming. They are looking for an experienced agrologist with strong knowledge of Saskatchewan and Canadian agriculture, environmental issues affecting the sector, and technical expertise in native range, tame forage and riparian management. The ideal candidate is a client service leader focused on environmental programming and technology transfer, able to work independently and within a dynamic team, organized, and capable of planning and facilitating meetings, field days, demonstrations and extension events.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with producers, industry partners and colleagues are essential.
Key qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Agriculture
- Experience in leadership, program delivery and client service
- Eligibility for registration with the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists under The Agrologists Act
- A valid Class 5 drivers licence is required
Responsibilities:
- Identifying client issues, supporting solutions to agrienvironmental challenges
- Interpreting technical information and promoting best management practices and available programming
