Job Description & How to Apply Below
Ansept Construction is a growing general contractor delivering residential, commercial, multifamily, and design‑build projects across Western Canada. We are hiring Handymen to perform a broad range of construction tasks across multiple project sites. This is a versatile, hands‑on role covering minor repairs, finishing work, maintenance, and punch list completion across both residential and commercial scopes. The successful candidate is multi‑skilled, reliable, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a broad range of construction and maintenance tasks across active project sites, including minor repairs, patching, caulking, hardware installation, fixture replacements, and general site upkeep.
- Complete punch list and deficiency items on projects approaching handover, ensuring all work meets quality standards and is inspection‑ready.
- Execute finishing work including painting, touch‑ups, minor drywall repairs, baseboard and trim installation, weather stripping, and door/window adjustments.
- Carry out basic plumbing and electrical tasks within scope, such as faucet replacements, toilet installations, light fixture swaps, and outlet cover installations. Escalate any work requiring licensed trades to the Site Superintendent.
- Travel between multiple job sites within the operating region as directed, adapting to different project types and scopes on short notice.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area at all times and ensure tools and materials are properly stored and accounted for at the end of each day.
- Identify and report safety hazards, material shortages, or workmanship issues to the Site Superintendent or Project Manager promptly.
- Comply with all site safety standards, OH&S requirements, and PPE protocols at all times.
- Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Site Superintendent or Project Manager as required.
- Consistent, year‑round work across a diverse mix of residential and commercial projects
- Full‑time employees are eligible for company benefits
- A clear progression path for high‑performing Handymen into Working Foreman and Superintendent roles as the company grows
- A company that values reliability, versatility, and quality workmanship
- Support for ongoing training and certification upgrades
- Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in construction, renovation, maintenance, or a related trade environment.
- Demonstrated versatility across multiple construction scopes - candidates who only work in a single trade are not suited for this role.
- A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle - you will travel between project sites across the operating region.
- Physical ability to perform demanding construction work daily, including lifting, climbing, and working in varying weather conditions.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Trade certification or formal training in carpentry, general construction, or a related discipline.
- Current WHMIS, CSTS, and/or First Aid certifications.
- Experience with both residential and commercial project sites.
- Experience working on renovation, restoration, or insurance‑related construction scopes.
- Familiarity with reading basic drawings or work orders.
- This role requires versatility across multiple scopes of work. Candidates seeking a position focused on a single trade or skill set may not find this role suitable.
- Reliable personal transportation is required. You will be expected to travel between job sites across Edmonton, Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Spruce Grove, or Prince Albert depending on your assigned region.
- This is a fully on‑site, field‑based position.
- Candidates must be comfortable working independently with limited supervision once tasks are assigned.
