Overview
Black & McDonald is currently seeking an experienced Service HVAC tech to join our Service Division in North East Saskatchewan. If you are hands-on, customer service oriented, and technically inclined, this position offers the opportunity to build a solid foundation for your career. The HVAC Technician will report to the Service Supervisor and will work primarily in North East Saskatchewan.
We are looking for an experienced HVAC/Plumber Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with a variety of RTU/HVAC systems, be able to troubleshoot and repair issues, and provide excellent customer service.
Black & McDonald is committed to continuous improvement and will provide training to maintain health and safety standards and support career development where possible. We are primarily an HVAC company but also work on chillers and smaller refrigeration systems.
Responsibilities- Work on RTUs and HVAC systems
- Inspect system components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, fan motors, fans, and expansion valves
- Perform system checks, system troubleshooting, and refrigerant recovery
- Perform electrical and gas system troubleshooting
- Maintain records including daily service logs, refrigerant recovery reports, and service records
- Research and resolve complex system problems
- Complete assigned paperwork and forms
- Conduct safety inspections, including proper use of personal protective equipment, and verify that safety regulations are followed

- Previous experience as an HVAC technician
- HVAC certification
- Brazing and soldering skills
- Knowledge of local building codes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and compliance schematics
- Advanced mechanical and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment
- Clean Class 5 SK Driver's License and abstract
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Maintain a professional demeanor with fellow employees, customers, and stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of basic computer skills including Microsoft Outlook and mobile device applications
