Job Summary
Perform diagnostic, maintenance and repair work on cars, trucks, buses and heavy vehicles to ensure safe and reliable operation. Apply mechanical and electronic troubleshooting techniques while maintaining accurate service records and following safety protocols.
Responsibilities- Inspect and diagnose mechanical, diesel and electrical faults in trucks, buses and automotive vehicles using manual and computerized diagnostic tools.
- Perform maintenance and repair tasks on engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, steering, HVAC and electrical systems.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance, safety inspections and component replacements according to manufacturer specifications.
- Test vehicles and equipment after repairs to verify performance; make adjustments and complete road tests as required.
- Prepare and maintain accurate work orders, repair logs, parts requisitions and service documentation; communicate repair status to supervisors or clients.
- Maintain shop tools and equipment, enforce safety procedures, and assist with training or mentoring junior technicians.
- Completion of a recognized automotive, truck or diesel mechanic program, or equivalent combination of technical training and hands‑on experience.
- Practical experience diagnosing and repairing heavy vehicles, trucks, buses or passenger vehicles in a commercial shop environment.
- Proficiency with computerized diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools, and vehicle service information systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics and manufacturer service bulletins.
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks, lift and maneuver parts and operate shop machinery safely.
- Strong attention to safety, reliable record‑keeping, clear communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Diesel and heavy‑vehicle engine diagnostics and repair
- Electrical and electronic troubleshooting of vehicle systems
- Brake and air brake systems inspection and maintenance
- Hydraulic, transmission and driveline diagnostics and repair
- Use of computerized diagnostic software, multimeters and specialized shop equipment
- Problem‑solving, time management and effective communication with team members and clients
