Overview

Reporting to the Manager – Crusher Operations, the Superintendent – Crusher Operations is responsible for overseeing and directing the efficient operation of the crushing circuit and all associated activities such as planning, staffing, budgeting, cost control, and operational performance. Evaluates production and cost information and provides guidance in the development of operational plans and priorities. As part of the management team contributes to the establishment of the overall strategy for crushing and materials handling within the processing function.

- Provide strong safety leadership in the crushing area by ensuring BW Gold safety standards, procedures, and systems are followed, while actively promoting a safe and accountable work culture across all shifts.
- Work with closely with Processing, Mine Operations, and Maintenance to help develop and deliver a practical operating strategy for the crushing circuit that supports safe and reliable production and meets downstream processing needs.
- Foster a strong partnership with Fixed Plant Maintenance to support safe and efficient maintenance execution, improve equipment reliability, coordinate shutdowns and outages, and maximize crushing circuit availability and performance.
- Implement and maintain effective operating practices, procedures, and routines to support consistent performance, good operational control, and compliance with site and industry requirements.
- Contribute to the development and monitoring of the crushing budget, ensuring costs are understood, tracked, and managed in line with production and business objectives.
- Support the achievement of production targets by ensuring throughput, availability, and product quality are aligned with the mine plan, and help resolve operational issues as they arise.
- Stay up to date with relevant regulations and site standards, and ensure requirements are clearly communicated and followed within the crushing team.
- Provide input to the Processing leadership team by reviewing operational data, identifying constraints, and suggesting practical improvements to improve performance and reliability.
- Support the planning and coordination of short- to long-term crushing requirements, including sustaining capital, upgrades, and expansion projects.
- Identify and support opportunities to improve crushing performance, reliability, and efficiency through better practices, equipment use, and operating methods.
- Support the onboarding, training, and development of operational staff within the crushing team.
- Help ensure effective day-to-day team performance by setting expectations, monitoring progress, and encouraging accountability, teamwork, and safe work practices across all shifts.
- May be required to maintain a clean-shaven appearance (i.e. no facial hair) to ensure the safe and effective use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) associated with assigned duties.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline required
- Professional designation or certification in a related discipline considered an asset
- Minimum 8 years of experience in crushing, ore handling, fixed plant, or mining operations
- Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in a supervisory, general foreman, or superintendent-level role within crushing, ore handling, or fixed plant operations
