Job Title:
Reforestation Support Staff (Seasonal) – Reports to Reforestation Crew Leader. Hiring for the 2026 Spring Season.
Hourly rate: $18.00 to $22.50 per hour, plus vacation pay and statutory holiday pay. Potential overtime during peak times, paid to provincial standards. Works in remote bush camps equipped with a kitchen (for a fee), dining tents, bathrooms, shower facilities, first aid rooms, drinking water, and Starlink internet. May work beyond the tree‑planting season.
Physical requirements:
capable of walking long distances, lifting and carrying over 50 pounds, operating large pick‑up trucks and all‑terrain vehicles on resource roads, and adapting to a remote, fast‑paced environment.
Pre‑employment drug and alcohol testing is required for this safety‑sensitive position which involves driving responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Support crews as directed by the supervisor.
- Perform quality inspections, sample/audit plots, worksite inspections, and drill participation, reviewing OH&S documentation.
- Organize equipment before, during, and after shifts; inspect and maintain as needed.
- Participate in daily tailgate meetings; assess worksites for hazards; inspect vehicles and equipment; ensure first aid requirements are met and document accordingly.
- Lead camp set‑up and take‑down.
- Maintain work area, storage area, and equipment in a condition that promotes good safety practices and compliance.
- Support crews in special planting missions and assist with planting trees as needed.
- Walk long distances and transport boxes of seedlings while following best practices for stock handling.
- Safely operate large pick‑up trucks and all‑terrain vehicles on resource roads.
- Other duties as required.
- Minimum of two seasons of tree‑planting experience.
- Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver's License and current Driver’s Abstract.
- Preference for holders of valid BC Intermediate or Advanced First Aid certification.
- Commitment to the spring and summer planting season (Early May to mid‑August).
- Experience driving pick‑up trucks pulling ball‑hitch trailers and operating all‑terrain vehicles.
- Competency with technology, handheld devices, and software such as Avenza Maps, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to adapt to an energetic, fast‑paced, and ever‑changing environment.
- Willingness to work, enjoy, and live in a remote setting.
- Self‑motivated and able to work well individually and as part of a team.
- English language proficiency (reading, writing, oral comprehension).
