Make an impact as a Senior Accountant with our Indigenous External Financial Advisory Services team. This diverse team of professionals works with more than 270 Indigenous peoples, groups and organizations across Canada and shares a passion for learning and understanding their history, culture, and contributions to our country. As a trusted advisor, you’ll provide expertise to empower Indigenous communities, organizations, businesses and individuals in navigating a dynamic social, political and economic environment.
Responsibilities
Work closely with Indigenous community and enterprise clients to assess their accounting systems and assist in delivering tailored capacity-building initiativesAssist with reviewing client accounting practices to create a strategic plan for growth, capacity development, and financial literacySupport activities related to external financing, system implementations, and chart of accounts setupDeliver hands-on training in accounting functions including assisting the client with audit preparationPrepare finance policies and process maps, prepare recommended amendments as requiredProvide training on general matters such as payroll, GST/PST, and T4 filingFacilitate project updates to Management and LeadershipMaintain flexibility to travel, as necessarySkills and Experience
A degree or diploma in Business Administration or AccountingCPA, CAFM, or equivalent designationMinimum 3 years of relevant experienceStrong knowledge of accounting principles and organizational financeExcellent communication and relationship-building skillsExperience working with Indigenous communities is a strong asset
