Job details

We are currently with a client in the mining sector who is looking to add a Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) to their regional corporate finance team. This is a highly technical, compliance-driven position focused heavily on complex corporate financial reporting, month-end and quarterly close processes, and the optimization of internal control structures. In this position, you will support alignment with IFRS reporting standards and assist in maintaining and testing internal controls within a SOX compliance framework.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical agility, works well with autonomy, and is looking to apply their accounting and audit foundations to a growing operation.

Work Schedule:

FT, The core schedule is 4 days per week on-site at the regional office in Quesnel, BC. Commute Considerations:
We recognize that a regular, daily commute from neighbouring regions like Prince George can be strenuous; therefore, alternative hybrid schedule balances or modified remote arrangements are entirely open for discussion for the right candidate.

Key Requirements:

CPA Designation: A registered Chartered Professional Accountant designation is a requirement for this position. Audit Background:
Prior experience in financial auditing is non-negotiable. Our client is open to candidates making their first jump from public practice into industry, or those who have already transitioned, provided they possess strong technical audit fundamentals. Advantages Competitive Compensation:

Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting:
    Lead and execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end corporate financial reporting packages.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance:
    Take a leading internal role in maintaining, optimizing, and testing internal control structures.
  • Systems & Data Optimization:
    Utilize financial reporting tools, specifically managing data structures within Sage 300, Alteryx, and other platforms.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    Work collaboratively with the finance team and various department heads to support continuous improvement and efficiency across business workflows.
Qualifications
  • Experience:

    Target of 5+ years of professional accounting and finance experience, with a solid baseline built in public practice or corporate audit environments.
  • Industry Background:
    Experience working within mining, forestry, or heavy manufacturing/industrial sectors is an asset.
  • Technical Savvy:
    Experience with ERPs like Sage 300, data tools like Alteryx, or reporting suites like Workiva is considered a massive asset.
  • Soft Skills:

    A naturally curious, proactive professional who is not afraid to deep-dive into complex data sets, and work autonomously with minimal supervision.
