Work Location(s): Prince George, BC, Fort St. James, BC, or Remote within British Columbia or Alberta

Hours of Work: Variable, generally averaging 40 hours per week. Actual hours may vary depending on project timelines and seasonal needs.

Salary Range: $43.08 to $53.00

What Your Day Will Look Like

As a Traditional Land Use (TLU) Specialist, you will lead the design and delivery of TLU studies in partnership with Indigenous communities across British Columbia. Your work will support environmental baseline assessments for a variety of development projects.

Using a respectful and culturally sensitive approach, you will gather and analyze TLU data through interviews, workshops, and fieldwork, and incorporate Indigenous knowledge into project planning and regulatory processes.

This role offers the opportunity to mentor junior staff, support business development initiatives, and contribute to the growth and refinement of the company’s TLU program. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, represent the company in client meetings and community engagements, and play a key role in building meaningful relationships.

What You’ll be Responsible for
  • Plan and lead TLU studies, including developing work plans, engagement protocols, and schedules in partnership with Indigenous communities.
  • Establish and maintain positive, respectful relationships with Indigenous communities, knowledge holders, and leadership.
  • Analyze, interpret, and synthesize TLU data and prepare high-quality reports for regulatory submissions, environmental assessments, and client deliverables.
  • Mentor and supervise junior TLU staff, fostering skill development and professional growth.
  • Technical leadership and mentorship within a team environment.
  • Fostering positive relationships with local communities, Indigenous groups, governmental agencies and other partners.
  • Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within Ecofor’s corporate culture.
What Will Help You Succeed

Our ideal candidate brings over five years of experience conducting Traditional Land Use (TLU) studies, Indigenous engagement, or related work in British Columbia. You have a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Indigenous Studies, Geography, Environmental Studies, or a related field. You have a strong understanding of TLU principles, Indigenous rights, and regulatory frameworks, and are skilled in facilitating interviews, leading teams, and managing projects from start to finish.

Your approach is grounded in cultural respect and collaboration, with demonstrated experience working sensitively with Indigenous communities. Knowledge of Indigenous Cultural Safety, BC DRIPA, and the TRC Calls to Action informs your work and strengthens your ability to contribute meaningfully to community-driven and regulatory processes.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Indigenous Studies, Geography, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience conducting TLU studies, Indigenous engagement, or related work in BC.
  • Experience managing projects and/or leading teams.
  • Experience working on baseline studies or environmental assessments is preferred.
