Description
West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Cariboo Pulp is currently recruiting for a Journeyperson Pipefitter.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Pipefitter will be a key player in a company-wide continuous improvement effort through daily use of troubleshooting and predictive, preventative maintenance strategies. As a member of this high performing team you will be responsible for working safely with all machinery within the pulp mill.
You’ll Do
Performing equipment repairs within planned time frames and completing the related record-keeping
Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and codes to determine layout, type and size of pipe, and tools to use
Applying knowledge of system operation to select the most suitable pipe type and size
According to specifications, install support equipment like hangers, brackets, pneumatic equipment, and hydraulic cylinders
Inspect the worksite to ensure no obstructions to the pipe and if there are any holes or interference, repair or modify the design
Cutting pipes using handheld and power tools like hammer and chisel, cutting torch, pipe cutter, and pipe cutting machine
Threading and bending pipes using pipe bending tools and threading machines
Assembling and installing tubes, fittings, and non-metallic attachments.
Joining pipes using threads, soldering, welding, brazing, or cemented connections
Checking systems for leaks
Inspecting piping systems and machinery to detect machinery malfunctions
You have
A valid Class 5 driver’s license
Heavy industry experience
Commitment to working safely and creating a safe work place
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Able to work independently with little supervision
Compensation Package
The hourly pay rate for this position will follow the collective agreement between Unifor 1115 and Cariboo Pulp Ltd. at the current rate of 48.66/hour.
