Overview of Responsibilities: The Aerospace Generator Rotor & Stator Rewind and Repair Shop Lead will perform and oversee all operations related to the inspection, repair, rewinding, testing, and overhaul of aircraft generator rotors, stators, and associated electrical components. This position provides technical leadership, production management, quality oversight, workforce development, and customer support while ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, OEM specifications, AS9100 quality standards, and company objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform duties related to the full rewind process in the rewind repair shop.
- Organize all daily operations of the generator rewind repair shop.
- Plan, schedule, and prioritize workload to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Coordinate shop resources, labor allocation, tooling, and materials to maximize productivity.
- Monitor workflow from receiving inspection through final testing and shipment.
- Ensure efficient utilization of equipment, facilities, and personnel.
- Provide technical expertise in the repair, overhaul, rewinding, balancing, and testing of aerospace generator rotors and stators.
- Review repair methods, RS-DER Specifications, engineering specifications, OEM manuals, and technical data.
- Support troubleshooting of complex electrical and mechanical failures.
- Approve repair processes and ensure adherence to approved procedures.
- Assist engineering and quality teams with repair development and process improvements.
- Supervise rewind technicians. leads, and support personnel.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate employees.
- Ensure performance goals for rewind technicians. and conduct employee reviews.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure employees maintain required certifications and qualifications.
- Work overtime as required by production requirements.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Expertise in aircraft generator rotor/stator rewinding, overhaul, electrical troubleshooting, testing, inspection, and dynamic balancing.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft electrical power generation systems, manufacturing, repair/overhaul, and final/in-process inspections.
- Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, SRMs, CMMs, repair manuals, and technical specifications.
- Experienced with FAA, EASA, OEM, AS9100, ISO, and quality management system compliance.
- Skilled in project management, production scheduling, root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and KPI performance monitoring.
- Support quality inspections, documentation, certification, audits, corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), and maintenance records.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, hazardous material handling, incident investigations, and continuous safety improvement.
- Assist with quoting, estimating, budgeting, cost control, process optimization, technical reviews, customer support, and business development.
- Strong planning, organization, multitasking, and prioritization skills in fast-paced production environments.
- Effective team player with excellent communication, adaptability, dependability, and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows and standard aircraft maintenance tools, including precision measuring instruments, electrical test equipment, torque tools, soldering equipment, and hand tools.
- Ability to work independently, meet productivity goals, work overtime as required, and provide personal tools.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering, Aviation Maintenance, Industrial Technology, Business Management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in electrical rotating equipment repair, aerospace MRO, or aircraft generator overhaul.
- Knowledge of rotor and stator winding design, insulation systems, and rewind processes.
Language
Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
