This career‑service, sworn Inspector position is responsible for conducting and leading complex investigations involving waste, fraud, abuse, public corruption, serious employee misconduct, and whistle blower investigations. The incumbent will ensure accuracy and timeliness of investigations and inquiries, conduct interviews with complainants, witnesses, and alleged violators, and write and review final investigative reports in accordance with IG Directives and FDC Policies and Procedures.
- Plan, lead, investigate, and conduct internal affairs, financial, and public corruption investigations.
- Perform comprehensive whistle blower reviews and related investigations pursuant to Florida Statute 112.3187 (Florida Whistle‑blower’s Act).
- Coordinate IG investigations with the Office of the Chief Inspector General and the Executive Office of the Governor.

- Valid Correctional Officer or Correctional Probation Officer certification issued by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.
- At least three (3) years of full‑time experience as a Correctional Officer or Correctional Probation Officer.
- Valid driver’s license.
- At least one (1) year of investigative experience.
- Official transcripts for any college/university degree.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Florida Statute X (Law Enforcement Officers’ and Correctional Officers’ Rights).
- Strong time‑management and organizational skills.
- Excellent report writing skills.
- Strong investigative skills with emphasis on comprehensive investigations and interviews.
The Florida Department of Corrections requires all applicants to pass a Level 2 background check in accordance with Chapter 435, Florida Statutes before employment.
