Cloud Systems Operations Engineer (Engineer II)
We are looking for a highly skilled Cloud Systems Operations engineer who will work collaboratively with application, infrastructure, security, and platform teams to support and improve the reliability, scalability, and operational health of our cloud environments. This role focuses on day‑to‑day cloud operations, incident response, automation, and operational improvements across cloud and hybrid platforms. The position is hybrid, requiring a minimum of 2 days a week in the Princeton, NJ office.
Responsibilities- Design, implement, and support well‑architected technical solutions across cloud (AWS, Azure), on‑premises, and hybrid environments.
- Build and maintain automation scripts, reusable components, and infrastructure‑as‑code pipelines to streamline deployments.
- Collaborate with product owners, analysts, architects, and QA teams to align on project goals and deliver iterative releases within Agile/Scrum or hybrid frameworks.
- Ensure high availability and performance of systems through proactive monitoring, incident analysis, root‑cause investigations, and preventive measures.
- Deploy and manage observability tools (Splunk, Datadog, New Relic) and automate alerting systems.
- Create and maintain operational runbooks, disaster‑recovery plans, and business continuity procedures.
- Lead security, compliance, and governance activities, ensuring adherence to cybersecurity, GxP, GDPR, HIPAA, and internal policies.
- Participate in internal and external audits, change control, vulnerability remediation, and configuration management.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, support proof‑of‑concepts, and champion automation and cost‑optimization initiatives.
- Document system configurations, workflows, SOPs, and architectural diagrams; provide training and knowledge transfer.
- 6+ years of experience as an IT Engineer; pharmaceutical industry experience is a plus.
- Proven expertise with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and Dev Ops tools (Git Hub Actions, Jenkins, Azure Dev Ops, Terraform, Kubernetes).
- Strong analytical and systematic problem‑solving skills with excellent communication ability.
- Experience with Agile, Dev Ops, ITIL, and change‑management methodologies.
- Background in regulated or GxP environments preferred.
- Ability to work independently, coach junior colleagues, and manage small project teams.
- Strong collaborative mindset and commitment to ethical and professional conduct.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Preferred certifications:
Cloud (AWS, Azure), Infrastructure (Cisco, Microsoft, Citrix), Dev Ops (Terraform, Kubernetes).
