Job Summary Provide Technology Support That Keeps Extension Connected

The University of Kentucky is seeking a Computer Support Specialist II to serve as a Regional Extension Information Technology Contact supporting Cooperative Extension Service offices throughout western Kentucky.

Based at the Research and Education Center in Princeton, Kentucky, this role provides frontline technical support, technology consulting, and network assistance for 17 Cooperative Extension Service offices. The successful candidate will help ensure employees have reliable technology resources while supporting daily operations, cybersecurity awareness, and long-term technology planning.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide desktop, server, network, and technology support for assigned Cooperative Extension Service offices
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, and system issues while delivering responsive customer service
  • Consult with Extension personnel on technology purchases, equipment selection, and IT planning
  • Support the deployment, maintenance, and security of university technology resources
  • Provide basic user training on operating systems, software applications, and supported technologies
  • Assist Extension personnel with secure computing practices and technology-related risk mitigation
  • Collaborate with regional and statewide IT support teams to share knowledge, resolve complex problems, and improve service delivery
  • Travel regularly to supported offices to provide onsite assistance and technology support

Knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems, Office Suites, Mac OS, peer-to-peer networking, strong technical and troubleshooting skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to function within a collaborative team-oriented environment, strong customer service skills.
