JOB SUMMARY
The Chemical Production Technician plays a key role in the manufacturing and blending of industrial water treatment chemicals. The individual in this position is responsible for operating production equipment, monitoring chemical processes, and ensuring product quality and consistency in accordance with established standards and safety procedures. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail, a commitment to workplace safety, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment.
ESSENTIALJOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate and maintain production equipment to ensure efficient and safe chemical manufacturing, performing routine checks and minor repairs as needed.
- Monitor and control process parameters (e.g., temperature, pressure, flow rates) to maintain product quality and adherence to specifications.
- Conduct quality assurance activities, including sampling, testing, and adjusting processes to ensure raw materials and final products meet standards.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including proper PPE usage, hazard reporting, and active participation in safety training and investigations.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to meet production goals, resolve issues, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
- Handle chemical processing and mixing in accordance with established formulas, ensuring safety and accuracy during production activities.
- Perform quality control testing and maintain accurate documentation, including Bill of Ladings, shipping labels, and inventory records.
- Support and serve as back up for shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations, including scheduling, inventory management, and forklift operation.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment through routine equipment cleaning, facility upkeep, and proper handling of drums and totes.
- Provide operational support and flexibility, including assisting the Plant Manager as needed and performing tasks requiring physical strength.
- Assist with deliveries by serving as a back‑up to Delivery Specialists, as needed.
- Adhere to and support all safety policies and guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to pass a respirator fit test and utilize a respirator during work duties.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and use a drum cart to maneuver up to 700 lbs. drums.
- Ability to accurately follow batch formulas and production procedures to ensure precise measurements and documentation.
- Basic math and measurement skills, with the ability to use scales, meters and other process instruments.
- Ability and willingness to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a production team and communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers.
- Ability and willingness to perform warehouse duties such as shipping and receiving, cleaning/organization and inventory management tasks.
- Ability and willingness to obtain a Class C CDL with Hazmat endorsement to assist with deliveries, as needed (estimated to be up to 3 days/month).
- Additional technical education or certification in chemical processing or related field.
- Prior experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment or similar industrial setting.
- Knowledge of chemical handling procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Familiarity with operating and troubleshooting process equipment and instrumentation.
- Previous experience in shipping and receiving or other warehouse management duties.
The anticipated pay range for this role is between $20 - $25/hr
, depending on qualifications and experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, and paid time off.
