1st Shift: Monday-Thursday 5:00 AM - 3:15 PM ;
Friday & Saturday OT hours vary

Salary Grade D

$20.20 - $24.40

The Machine Operator is responsible for operating the belt sander to sand flat panel materials to meet quality specifications and production schedules.

• Set up sander assuring height and pressure settings are correct and adjust if needed.
• Prioritize work by job number, green slip or OCS.
• Load & unload parts from sander and inspect for quality.
• Deal with defects by re-sanding, puttying and hand sanding.
• Sand edge tape on box parts and flat panel doors.
• Create green slips for parts which must be remade.
• Adjust computerized machine settings as needed to enable the machine to sand specialty component parts/wood species.
• Perform final inspection of cabinet parts per job to verify quality of product produced.
• Bring product issues and material concerns to manager to ensure meeting production needs.
• Ensure optimum machine performance by performing various maintenance operations such as cleaning machinery, changing sand paper, checking part thickness or depth of cut with various quality measurement tools such as calipers or depth gauges.
• Demonstrate self-motivation in the timely completion of daily/weekly assignments.
• Maintain a working knowledge of the various wood species and differentiate between them.
• Makes fundamental mathematical calculations and reads measurement devices, i.e. tape measure, etc.
• Fill in other areas as needed.
