Position Summary

We’re seeking a Manager of Accounting to join our Finance team and oversee day-to-day accounting operations. The Manager of Accounting will supervise the accounting staff, ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, and support the month‑end close process. This role will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of our financial data, implementing process improvements, and developing junior team members.

The ideal candidate will bring solid technical accounting knowledge, strong organizational skills, and a collaborative approach to managing accounting functions in a dynamic, fast‑growing environment. This role will work closely with the Assistant Controller/Controller to ensure smooth accounting operations and accurate financial reporting. This role reports directly to the Assistant Controller/Controller.

This role is fully remote; however, the employee must be located in CT, NJ, or NY. The compensation range for this role is $100,000 - $115,000 annually.

The Impact You’ll Make
  • Supervise and mentor the accounting team, including training, task assignment, and performance management.
  • Manage day‑to‑day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Support the month‑end and year‑end close processes, preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Review and approve invoices, expense reports, and payment runs to ensure accuracy and proper coding in Net Suite.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances or discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with Operations and Sales teams to resolve billing issues and ensure accurate revenue recognition.
  • Maintain and improve accounting processes and documentation to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Assist with audit preparation by gathering supporting documentation and responding to auditor requests.
  • Monitor compliance with company policies and internal controls.
  • Support sales tax compliance activities and coordinate with external advisors as needed.
  • Prepare management reports and analyses to support decision‑making.
  • Manage special projects and ad‑hoc requests from leadership.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Experience with month‑end close processes and account reconciliations.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop team members with excellent coaching skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, preferably Net Suite.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365; advanced Excel skills required.
  • Experience with accounts payable/receivable systems such as  preferred.
  • Consumer goods, retail, or e‑commerce experience a plus.
  • Highly detail‑oriented with strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment with changing priorities.
