Position: Project Accountant

Location: On-Site Somerset NJ 08873

Reports to: Company Comptroller / CFO

• Managing the financial aspects of multiple projects, from setup to closeout, often using Deltek project accounting software Ajera. This includes setting up projects, monitoring budgets, tracking costs, preparing invoices, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. Key responsibilities include analyzing project performance, reconciling project accounts, and communicating with project managers and clients.
• Project Setup and Maintenance: Setting up projects in Deltek software, defining billing structures, and creating work breakdown structures (WBS).
• Budget and Cost Management: Monitoring project budgets, actual costs, funding, and profitability.
• Invoicing and Billing: Preparing and reviewing project invoices, ensuring compliance with contract terms, and managing unbilled receivables.
• Financial Reporting and Analysis: Preparing financial reports, analyzing project variances, and providing insights into project performance.

  Working with project managers to review financial performance, resolving billing issues, and communicating with clients.
• Project Closeout: Ensuring accurate and timely project closeout processes.
• Compliance and Audit Support: Supporting internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles.

• Accounting Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles, project accounting practices, and GAAP.
• Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Deltek Ajera, Vantagepoint, or Vision.

• Experience: 3-5 years of experience in project accounting, preferably in the A/E industry.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience as a project accountant or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in Deltek / Ajera Cloud software or similar accounting software.
• Prior experience working for an Architectural or Engineering firm is preferred
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software applications.
• Professional and ethical behavior, maintaining confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
