Position: School Counselor (Part Time)

The French American School of Princeton is seeking a compassionate, part-time School Counselor (24 hours/week) to support the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our Pre-K through 8th-grade students. The counselor will provide drop-in counseling, lead crisis interventions, implement SEL and bullying prevention programs, and conduct parent education workshops. A Master’s degree in School Counseling or Psychology is required, and experience with PK-8 children is preferred.

French proficiency is not necessary.

Position Title: School Counselor (Part-Time)

Location: French American School of Princeton (Pre-K through 8th Grade independent school in Princeton, NJ)

Schedule: Part-time — 24 hours/week
Supervisor: Head of School
Salary: $38,000/year
Benefits: 401(k) Plan: matching program (1-year eligibility requirement)
Starting Date: September 1, 2026
Contract: September to June (paid over 12 months)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide drop-in counseling services to students as needed.
  • Act as a liaison with external mental health providers and coordinate care when necessary.
  • Offer crisis intervention and support for students experiencing urgent emotional or behavioral challenges.
  • Implement and support in-class Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) programs to foster students’ emotional growth and well-being.
  • Lead or assist with in-class bullying prevention initiatives to promote a safe and inclusive school environment.
  • Conduct parent education workshops to strengthen the school-home partnership and provide guidance on supporting student well-being.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in School Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience working with PK-8 school-aged children preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment.
  • French proficiency is not required.
