Our Princeton team is seeking a mid‑level Electrical Engineer with a sound knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals and a demonstrated interest in building design. Working closely with our clients, the Princeton team focuses on providing solutions for many different types of projects including schools (K-12), universities, banks, theaters, parks, and historic preservations/renovations.
Role and ResponsibilitiesThis position is located in our Princeton, New Jersey office.
The main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Design power, lighting, fire alarm, and telecommunications plans, including all associated circuitry, details, one‑line diagrams, and specifications.
- Perform system design calculations, load calculations, arc flash & fault current, lighting, and any other calculations required to support electrical design.
- Prepare electrical construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and reports for buildings.
- Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all building systems.
- Ensure that design is consistent with the overall vision and that design schedules are maintained; work closely with the client and other design team members, including owners, architects, contractors, and members of other disciplines.
- Participate in the selection and specification of appropriate equipment for use in building systems.
- Participate in preparing specifications and writing reports.
- Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architects.
- Attend meetings and communicate with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues.
- A baccalaureate degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields from an accredited 4‑year institution.
- A minimum of 5 years professional experience in designing electrical systems for commercial/institutional building projects (5‑7 years ideal).
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
- Previous electrical design experience with an AE and/or MEP engineering consulting firm.
- Strong fundamental understanding of the National Electric Code and the International Building Codes.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills and demonstrated capacity for analysis and strategic thinking.
- Strong initiative, willingness, and ability to succeed in a collaborative, team‑based environment.
- Ability to multi‑task with multiple projects and ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both verbally and in writing.
- EIT/Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred
The salary range for this position will be between $100,000- $130,000. This is a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. Actual base salary will vary and will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, skills, licensure, location and other business and organizational needs. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package.
