Your new roleAs our new Air Quality Principal, you will be part of the firm's collaborative, inclusive, and creative Air Quality team. The successful candidate will provide technical and business leadership and contribute to innovative solutions across sectors including commercial, manufacturing, government, energy, financial, insurance, and/or law. The candidate must demonstrate an ability to generate and maintain a volume of business to support the growth of the firm;
typically, 2-3 staff members. You should have experience managing consulting assignments, work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams, and be proficient in analysis and communication of information. You must be able to work cooperatively with agencies, organizations, and individuals to guide decision-making and be proficient in all facets of project management. Mentoring and developing Associate and Manager level staff, and collaboration with colleagues throughout the Practice, are expected.
Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:
- Identifying and pursuing business development opportunities;
- Managing projects, clients, and regulatory agency relations;
- Critically reviewing and interpreting local, state, and federal environmental regulations, compiling and drafting regulatory applicability determinations, and communicating findings to co-workers, clients, and regulatory agencies;
- Overseeing the preparation of comprehensive federal and state air permit application materials;
- Testifying at administrative and/or court hearings;
- Participating in local, national and international scientific and trade group meetings; and
- Conducting site visits.
As part of the Air Quality team, you will be part of a creative group filled with people excited about solving clients' problems and creating sustainable solutions. You will work with all levels of technical expertise, from entry-level team members to seasoned subject matter experts, in a continual learning environment through coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job tasks.

- B.S./M.S./Ph.D. degree in Engineering or Environmental Sciences, or related discipline;
- 13+ years of related air science experience, largely in a consulting environment;
- Demonstrated capabilities in understanding, interpreting, and applying environmental regulations to real-world situations;
- Understanding of air quality issues and agency-approved methods and guidance;
- Ability to externally manage client and regulatory agency relationships and internally manage staff and competing project priorities; and
- Demonstrated business development capabilities.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $178,000-$222,000 annually and does not include bonuses, overtime or other forms of compensation or benefits. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
