We are hiring a Principal Engineer / Environmental Scientist / Geologist with an LSRP license to grow our office located in the vibrant, historical college town of Princeton, New Jersey. This is a growth role for a seller‑doer leader: you’ll set the go‑to‑market approach, open doors with new and existing clients, and deliver high‑impact work—supported by strong technical resources and collaborative colleagues.
Yourkey responsibilities will be:
- Drive growth: build and execute a regional client development plan; cultivate relationships and open new opportunities.
- Win work: qualify leads, shape scopes, price strategically, and lead proposals/interviews through close.
- Grow accounts: deepen trusted‑advisor relationships, identify cross‑sell opportunities, and expand multi‑service programs.
- Lead delivery: oversee complex engagements (scope/schedule/budget/quality) and bring the right experts to solve client challenges.
- Build the team: mentor and develop staff, support recruiting, and create repeatable delivery and sales playbooks.
- Represent the firm: engage with clients, regulators, and industry groups; speak/publish as appropriate to raise visibility.
We are looking for a Principal with 20+ years of consulting experience, a track record of winning and expanding client work, and experience as a New Jersey LSRP.
Qualifications- 15+ years in environmental consulting with progressive leadership responsibility.
- Business development success—evidence of consistently winning work (e.g., annual sales targets achieved, repeatable proposal wins, measurable account growth).
- A strong professional network in New Jersey and an existing book of business.
- Strong program/project leadership (scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk) and the ability to lead multi‑disciplinary team.
- In‑depth knowledge of NJDEP environmental regulations and Technical Guidance and application to real‑world situations.
- Relevant degree in environmental science, engineering, geology, chemistry, or a related field; professional certifications/licensure (e.g., LSRP, PE, PG).
- Growth runway: define and expand our New Jersey market presence with leadership visibility.

At Ramboll, we are committed to fair and transparent compensation practices that support our people and our purpose of creating sustainable societies. The anticipated base salary range for this position is $162,000 to $210,500 per year. This range reflects the compensation we reasonably expect to offer at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity.
Because we operate across multiple U.S. markets, pay may differ depending on the cost of labor in specific locations. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for bonus, overtime or other forms of compensation and we offer a comprehensive benefits package that supports well‑being, professional development, and work‑life balance.
