Staff Representative for New Jersey

The Health Professionals and Allied Employees (HPAE) is the largest union of Registered Nurses and healthcare professionals in New Jersey and an affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT). With more than 14,000 members in our 20 locals, we are a union of nurses, social workers, therapists, technicians, medical researchers, and other healthcare professionals. We work in hospitals, nursing homes, home care agencies, blood banks, and university research facilities throughout New Jersey and the Philadelphia area.

We are a leading voice bargaining and advocating for safer standards in healthcare to improve patient care and protect our healthcare workforce.

Preference is for applicants who have experience in the full range of Staff Representative duties, including contract negotiations, grievances and arbitrations, internal organizing, and developing coalitions with other unions and community groups. Strong internal organizing, excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills are required. Commitment to a strong, democratic labor movement is a must.

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement with WBNG Local 32035. Starting salary ranges from $77,558to $97,173plus credit for years of experience. HPAE offers a competitive benefit package which includes mileage reimbursement and car allowance, cell phone allowance, excellent health insurance, HRA, dental insurance, long‑term disability, life insurance, employer contributions towards retirement plans, and generous paid leave.
