Summary:

Beacon is a successful and national behavioral health company providing residential-based services and supports to children and adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Severe Mental Illness, Autism, and high-acuity behaviors. All activities related to this position must be delivered in compliance with the company’s policies and procedures, accreditation standards, state and federal licensing requirements, HCBS guidelines, and the contractual requirements of Community Mental Health Agencies and other regulatory bodies.

The Assistant VP of Compliance along with the compliance team is dedicated to supporting operations in promoting the prevention, detection, and resolution of any actions that do not align with legal or regulatory policies, or ethical business standards. Among its key responsibilities are the development of compliance policies and procedures that offer clear guidance to employees. They manage relationships with regulatory agencies, ensure staff professionalism, implement corrective actions, assist with compliance responses and complete assigned duties while adhering to BSLS Core Values, Mission Statement, and Corporate Philosophies.

• Always be compliant with all company and regulatory policies and procedures.
• Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives that improve the customer experience, enhance workflow, and/or improve the work environment.
• Management duties including, but not limited to, hiring, training, and developing, coaching, and counseling, and terminating department staff, as deemed necessary.
• Assist Chief Compliance Officer with compliance program, including but not limited to all services provided by Beacon Specialized Living and collaborating with clinicians, nurses and quality and such other teams as designated.
• Assist with implementation and management of the compliance auditing and monitoring program, education and training, investigations, trending and tracking compliance concerns and other components of the seven elements of compliance.
• Direct and lead investigations of compliance-related or regulatory related issues, including those related to ICARE Safeline.
• Effectively document investigative findings, implement, and monitor corrective actions and resolution of issues. Ensure that all mandatory reporting is completed and any follow up is documented based on the findings of the investigation both internally and externally and thatprogressive discipline is completed and implemented if warranted.
• Review the effectiveness of the compliance program as it relates to Beacon operations in each market.
• Ensure adherence to compliance policies by reviewing established and revised policies and serving as a resource for the market staff.
• Provide assistance throughout the market with any compliance needs including data, risk outcomes and through the Market’s, operations, and entity requests.
• Maintain knowledge of healthcare and compliance regulations and industry standards. Assist the Market and the organization in understanding new healthcare regulations or standards through updated education and training.
• Provide education and training related to compliance topics including but not limited to Elder Justice Act, Fraud and Abuse, HIPAA, Stark, Anti-Kickback and other related compliance issues.
