Position:
Cloud Fin Ops Engineer (Manager, Cloud Fin Ops Engineer)
- Perform day-to-day cloud cost/usage analysis across AWS, Azure, and GCP (tagging enforcement, anomaly detection, optimization follow-up).
- Operate/enhance cost observability (dashboards, scorecards, unit-economics, usage trends).
- Investigate cost spikes/anomalies by correlating architecture, utilization, and events.
- Identify gaps in cost governance and implement technical improvements.
- Serve as technical point of contact for cloud consumers/application teams; provide engineering guidance.
- Facilitate optimization reviews; promote engineering-led Fin Ops best practices across provisioning/deployment/runtime.
- Partner with Finance with reliable cost data/tooling/automation (ownership within IT).
- Analyze usage to find waste and optimization opportunities (rightsizing, storage tiering/lifecycle, Kubernetes/container drivers, data transfer/networking).
- Lead small-to-medium optimization initiatives; support commitment strategies (Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, CUDs).
- Build Fin Ops automation using Python; develop AWS solutions (Lambda, RDS/DynamoDB/Redshift, Step Functions).
- Use Cloud Formation; integrate cost controls/tagging/reporting into CI/CD.
- Automate anomaly reporting, scheduled spend analysis, and ingestion from billing systems; (optional) Auto Remediation Frameworks.
- Apply IAM (RBAC), enforce auditable cost attribution/ownership, support compliance evidence/traceability.
- Collaborate cross-functionally; communicate technical/cost concepts clearly.
- Bachelor’s in CS/Engineering/IS/Data Analytics or related field.
- 4–5+ years in cloud engineering/platform/SRE/Fin Ops/cloud operations.
- Strong cloud cost-driver knowledge (compute, storage, databases, networking).
- Hands‑on Python; AWS services (Lambda, databases, Step Functions).
- Cloud Formation; CI/CD concepts.
- Advanced Excel, SQL, cost modeling/analysis; visualization tools (Power BI/Tableau/Quick Sight).
- Git Hub/version control.
- Tagging/cost allocation + showback/chargeback understanding.
- Ability to scope/deliver moderately complex solutions; strong communication/collaboration.
- Fin Ops Certified Practitioner/Analyst.
- Cloud billing/cost tools (AWS Cost Explorer/CUR/Billing Conductor/Budgets; Azure Cost Management; GCP billing exports; Apptio Cloudability/Flexera/Finout).
- Python + React for tools/dashboards; commitment strategy knowledge.
- Observability tools (Cloud Watch/Datadog/Prometheus/Grafana); enterprise/regulated environments.
- Auto Remediation Framework familiarity.
