The Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) in Princeton, NJ has an immediate career opening for a Computer Systems Support Administrator. This opening is located at IDA’s Center for Communications Research in Princeton, NJ (CCR-P). We are seeking a Computer Systems Support Administrator who, with minimal supervision, provides technical and operational support of computers, peripherals, endpoints and audio visual systems. The role involves troubleshooting and resolving problems with a limited scope, providing support in the implementation of IT programs and project initiatives, and adhering to IT best practices, corporate and security policy. Due to the nature of this position and the requirement for extended coverage, this position may require working hours outside of a regular schedule.
Responsibilities- Respond to Helpdesk Requests and Change Requests following standard operating practices and procedures (SOP); troubleshoot and resolve operational deficiencies in operating systems and application software; provide technical support and user assistance for multi‑platform endpoint systems, telecommunications, mobile devices, networking and conference support.
- Perform operational support tasks including warranty and license maintenance, records management, configuration management, office administration, scripting SOP problem resolution guides, conference support scheduling, IT inventory processing and audio visual system management.
- Assist in the implementation of IT technology initiatives and partner with engineering staff to ensure successful deployment and transition of operational support.
- Maintain all systems to meet or exceed business and security requirements in accordance with IDA and NSA directives and guidelines; administer and maintain classified and unclassified systems and services, ensuring optimum performance and availability.
- Communicate all computer network, system and service problems and outages immediately to the IT Manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field with at least one year of experience supporting microcomputer software, hardware, associated peripherals, networks and computer user support OR high school diploma with at least three years of experience providing such support.
- Experience with Microsoft operating systems; additional experience with Linux is desired.
- Working knowledge of Ethernet, TCP/IP, network cabling and remote access methodologies.
- Must be self‑motivated and able to work with general to no supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form and with all levels of employees; possess good interpersonal skills.
- Must be willing to work hours outside of a regular schedule.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD 8570 IAT II certification.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.

CompensationWe support transparency, equity, and fairness in our compensation program and provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range based on data‑driven market analysis for this position. The estimated salary range is $68,000–$109,000. Individual salary within this range will be commensurate with the incumbent’s experience, unique skills and qualifications, and other relevant factors.
Additional RequirementsU.S. Citizenship is required. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.
