Summary:
The Associate Director, R&D BI&IT Portfolio Delivery Lead is responsible for leading delivery and management of the R&D BI&IT project portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and optimal resource utilization. Oversees project execution, financial management, and stakeholder engagement; maintains portfolio governance, resource allocation, risk management, and continuous improvement with a focus on Agile principles.
- Lead management and delivery of the R&D IT project portfolio aligned to the Book of Work (BOW); support decision-making and resource allocation.
- Build partnerships with IT leadership, Product Managers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Provide portfolio-level updates and translate technical information into business-relevant insights.
- Manage financials for investment projects and ongoing operational (run) support (budgeting, forecasting, tracking expenditures).
- Oversee planning, execution, monitoring, and closure; ensure best practices and regulatory adherence; stay within scope, schedule, and budget.
- Establish and monitor portfolio risks, issues, and dependencies; resolve and escal as needed.
- Support consistent use of Agile/Waterfall/hybrid methodologies; collaborate to define scope, budget, timeline, and success criteria.
- Coach/escalation point for project managers.
- Manage OKRs, track KPIs, and provide regular status updates to R&D IT leadership.
- Implement lessons learned and feedback loops to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical industry regulations and BMS policies.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT/Computer Science/Business Administration or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience managing complex IT project portfolios in research/pharmaceutical environment.
- Financial management expertise (budgeting, forecasting, tracking for investment and run support).
- 8+ years IT project management; at least 3 years portfolio/program management (pharma/life sciences preferred).
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations/compliance (e.g., GxP, FDA, GDPR).
- Proven delivery track record on time and within budget; hands-on Agile experience.
- Experience scaling Agile (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) across teams/portfolios.
- Leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Agile/project tools experience (e.g., Jira).
- PMP/PgMP/Agile certifications (e.g., CSM, SAFe Agilist) preferred.
- Ability to influence change in a matrixed global organization; strong analytical/problem-solving/decision-making.
