Our client is a well-established, highly regarded corporate law firm focused on serving the small and middle-market business community. The firm has built a strong reputation for delivering sophisticated transactional advice with a practical, commercial approach.
About the RoleThey are now seeking to recruit an experienced M&A Partner to join their New Jersey office and play a key role in the continued growth of their transactional practice.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage complex mergers, acquisitions, and strategic transactions
- Work closely with an established corporate and securities practice
- Drive business development initiatives with the direct support of a dedicated and proactive in-house marketing team
- Benefit from structured marketing and BD resources designed to help you grow and further develop your book of business
- Develop and expand client relationships
- Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to the leadership of the practice
- Play a visible role in the strategic direction and expansion of the firm’s M&A offering
- Existing portable book of business of at least $650,000
- Ability to meet an 1800 billable hour requirement
- Significant experience handling sophisticated M&A transactions
- Strong client relationship and business development skills
- Highly Desirable (but not essential):
Current or previous leadership of an M&A practice or department within a law firm - Demonstrated track record of team building and strategic growth
Compensation will be discussed directly with candidates at interview and will be:
- Competitive and commensurate with experience
- Structured around the value of your portable book and overall contribution
The remuneration framework includes:
- 20%–25% generation credit on originated work
- 30%–44% payout on billings from your own book of business
This structure is designed to properly reward entrepreneurial partners and high performers.
