Job Description

Everstaff is seeking an experienced Part-Time Appellate Attorney to support appeals related to automobile insurance claims.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an attorney with strong appellate experience to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment with the potential for expanded responsibilities and future leadership.

Hourly Rate: $60-$80 per hour, based on experience

Schedule: Part-time with flexible hours

Work Model: Hybrid schedule

Location: Princeton, NJ (Hybrid)

Essential Job Functions
  • Handle appeals of automobile insurance claims as assigned by claims leadership and/or the legal team
  • Draft, review, and file appellate briefs, motions, and related legal documents with a high level of accuracy and legal analysis
  • Argue appeals before appropriate appellate courts when required
  • Provide legal counsel and guidance to internal departments, including claims, underwriting, SIU, and other business units, as needed
  • Analyze complex legal issues involving no-fault insurance, coverage disputes, and appellate procedure
  • Support matters involving bodily injury (BI), uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM), and automobile physical damage coverage, as applicable
  • Direct and collaborate with support staff on clerical and administrative aspects of appellate matters
  • Manage assigned files independently in a paperless, electronic environment
  • Contribute to the continued development of appellate processes and best practices as the operation expands
Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience handling automobile insurance claims from inception through resolution
  • At least 2 years of direct experience handling appeals related to automobile insurance claims
  • Extensive knowledge of no-fault insurance, insurance coverage law, and appellate procedures
  • Strong familiarity with local and state discovery rules and applicable substantive law related to automobile insurance matters
  • Proven experience drafting appellate briefs and presenting oral arguments
  • Ability to manage matters independently while maintaining organization, attention to detail, and strict deadlines
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills with excellent legal judgment
  • Proficiency with legal research and technology tools, including Westlaw, Microsoft Word, and Outlook
  • Comfortable working in a fully electronic, paperless legal environment
Education & Licensure
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials
  • Active license to practice law in New Jersey and in good standing with the State Bar
