The Port Authority of New York/New Jersey is seeking a Deputy Director, Commercial Development, an executive leader responsible for shaping and executing revenue strategies across the Port Authority’s five-airport system:
John
F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), LaGuardia International Airport (LGA), New York Stewart International Airport (SWF), and Teterboro Airport (TEB). This role oversees a broad commercial portfolio that includes concessions, aviation fees, transportation revenues, property development, parking, ground transportation, cargo, and other ancillary revenue streams. Leading a division of more than 30 professionals, the Deputy Director plays a central role in advancing long-term business objectives while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, financial discipline, and customer-focused outcomes.
- Lead commercial and revenue strategy across concessions, aviation fees, transportation revenues, cargo, and airport support development
- Oversee property development, space utilization planning, lease administration, and major lease negotiations
- Guide airline rates, charges, and cost recovery strategies in coordination with Aviation Financial Services
- Develop concession strategies that optimize revenue and align with airport business and customer experience goals
- Direct parking and ground transportation programs, including yield management, pricing strategies, and access initiatives
- Advance ancillary commercial development, including non-terminal real estate and innovative revenue opportunities
- Provide executive oversight of cargo planning, revenue management, and market expansion strategies
- Communicate complex financials to an executive audience, telling the “story” and selling the benefits of major development deals
- Direct audit compliance, accounts receivable, permitting, and commercial policy decisions
- Manage and develop a large, multidisciplinary team and foster cross-department collaboration
- Engage external partners, agencies, and stakeholders to support strategic initiatives
Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field; an advanced degree is desirable. The successful candidate brings at least 15 years of progressively responsible experience in commercial development, revenue strategy, real estate, finance, or a related discipline, along with a demonstrated record of executive leadership, high-stakes negotiations, stakeholder engagement, and effective communication at the senior level.
Commercial and/or financial experience in an aviation environment is strongly preferred.
