The Warehouse Director is a key member of the Manufacturing Support team and is responsible for overseeing the receipt, storage, and inventory management of raw materials, consumables, cell banks, drug substance, and related materials within a cGMP-compliant warehouse environment.
This role provides direct leadership, coaching, mentoring, and operational oversight to support biologics manufacturing in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
Responsibilities- Lead, train, coach, mentor, and manage daily warehouse operations and team performance.
- Manage cGMP and non-cGMP receiving activities in accordance with established SOPs.
- Oversee inventory management using electronic inventory management systems.
- Coordinate transfer of materials between on-site and off-site warehouse locations.
- Maintain warehouse and receiving areas in an inspection‑ready condition.
- Develop, review, and approve SOPs related to warehouse and inventory management.
- Complete change control documentation and deviation investigations as required.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on applicable equipment and procedures.
- Participate in internal and external audits and regulatory inspections.
- Identify operational gaps and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Address complex cGMP compliance and regulatory issues.
- Ensure team members are properly trained on SOPs, systems, and equipment.
- Manage staffing, scheduling, and workload distribution.
- Support and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
- Implement organizational systems, policies, and procedures.
- May be required to work shifts, holidays, and weekends.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in cGMP warehouse operations, logistics, or supply chain management.
- Prior supervisory or people management experience.
- Experience using ERP‑based inventory management systems.
- Strong understanding of cGMP requirements related to warehousing and inventory.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record (if applicable to role duties).
- Demonstrated technical expertise, problem‑solving skills, and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional and multidisciplinary teams.
- 10+ years of combined experience in cGMP warehousing and/or logistics.
- Experience with SAP Inventory Management (IM) and Warehouse Management (WM).
- Lean / Six Sigma certification or experience.
- Strong ability to influence across organizational levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Project.
- Experience coordinating domestic and international shipments, including import/export activities.
