Job Description
The Assistant Pastor of Family Ministry and Local Engagement leads the vision and execution of family discipleship and local engagement at Stone Hill Church. This role equips and disciples the congregation—especially parents and families—to grow in their knowledge, love, and obedience to Jesus Christ, and to live out their faith through evangelism and service in the local community.
This pastor provides teaching, leadership, and oversight that fosters spiritual maturity, strengthens families in their role as primary disciple rs, and mobilizes the church for meaningful local engagement. He operates with a deep confidence in the authority and sufficiency of God’s Word as central to both discipleship and mission.
Objectives- Provide pastoral leadership in developing and strengthening family discipleship, equipping parents and integrating the next generation into the life of the church.
- Lead and oversee local engagement efforts that mobilize the congregation for evangelism and service within the surrounding community.
- Ensure all ministries under this role align with the church’s theological convictions, philosophy of ministry, and overall mission.
- Leads and implements the vision for Family Ministry and Local Engagement in alignment with the church’s mission, theology, and ministry philosophy.
- Serves as a member of the Pastoral Team, contributing to leadership, teaching, and congregational care.
- Preaches and teaches as part of the church’s pulpit and teaching rotation, as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
- Develops, equips, and multiplies leaders and volunteers to carry out ministry initiatives, ensuring ministry is leader-driven rather than staff-dependent.
- Participates in pastoral care responsibilities, including Care Team rotation and support of congregational needs.
- Collaborates with the Elders and Senior Pastor in areas of congregational training, care, and ministry development, including potential parish leadership.
- Leads and oversees all aspects of Family Ministry, ensuring alignment with the church’s philosophy of family discipleship and overall ministry priorities.
- Supervises and develops Family Ministry staff, providing clear direction, support, and accountability.
- Equips and resources parents to serve as the primary disciple rs of their children, offering teaching, counsel, and practical tools.
- Ensures that student ministry is integrated into the life of the church and functions as an extension of family discipleship.
- Oversees the Assistant Pastor of Next Gen, ensuring alignment in middle school and high school ministry with the church’s vision and priorities.
- Evaluates and refines Family Ministry structures, programs, and communications to ensure effectiveness and alignment with the church’s mission.
- Develops and implements new initiatives that strengthen families and advance the church’s discipleship strategy.
- Manages the financial and material resources of Family Ministry, including budget development and curriculum selection.
- Leads and oversees all local engagement efforts for Stone Hill Church, including supervision of the Local Engagement Team.
- Develops and implements strategies, programs, and partnerships that mobilize the congregation for evangelism and service in the local community.
- Cultivates relationships with community organizations, leaders, and partners to create meaningful opportunities for engagement, service, and gospel witness.
- Collaborates with the Pastor(s) overseeing Benevolence, the Koinonia Team, and the Global Outreach Director to coordinate and strengthen outreach efforts.
- Ensures all local engagement initiatives align with the church’s theological convictions, mission, and leadership direction.
- Demonstrates a growing, mature relationship with Jesus Christ, marked by humility, integrity, and a desire to serve.
- Lives in accordance with the biblical qualifications for spiritual leadership (e.g., 1 Tim. 3:1–7; Titus 1:6–9; Gal. 5:22–23).
