The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for cleaning, inspecting, sterilizing, organizing, and maintaining surgical instruments and equipment in our ambulatory surgery center to support high-quality orthopaedic surgical care.

Responsibilities
  • Clean, inspect, assemble, wrap, label, and sterilize surgical instruments per established protocols and manufacturer instructions
  • Operate sterilizers, ultrasonic washers, and processing equipment; perform biological and chemical monitoring and maintain accurate logs
  • Sort and arrange instruments into trays per tray lists; label packages with item name, sterilization date, and expiration date
  • Maintain inventory levels, inspect sterile items for package integrity, and replace outdated or compromised items
  • Keep the central processing area clean, organized, and compliant with infection control and safety standards
  • Document instruments loaned to or returned from outside sources; maintain and update instrument tray inventory lists
  • Communicate professionally with physicians, clinical staff, and leadership; report safety concerns or equipment issues promptly
Education & Certification
  • Central Sterile Technician certification is required
  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • Prior sterile or central sterile processing experience is preferred
  • Ambulatory Surgery Center and orthopaedic instrument experience is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of sterile technique, sterilization processes, infection control, and instrument handling
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization; ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Professional demeanor with co‑workers, physicians, patients, and visitors
Benefits

OrthoNJ, LLC is required by New Jersey law to disclose the compensation range for this position. The hiring range for this role is $26/hour-$31/hour. Compensation is determined based on several factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience. Eligible full‑time employees are offered a comprehensive benefits package, which may include paid time off, medical, dental, vision, and a retirement plan.
