Fiddler's Elbow Country Club Job Description
The Golf Course Superintendent manages the daily operations, maintenance, and overall care of the club’s three golf courses and associated properties. Providing leadership across all golf course maintenance operations, this role ensures the highest standards of playability, aesthetics, safety, and environmental stewardship. The Superintendent works closely with the Director of Agronomy and the leadership team to execute the Golf Course Maintenance department’s vision and standards across multiple facilities.

Key Responsibilities Golf Course & Grounds Operations- Oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance and operations for the Forest, River and Meadow courses.
- Provide leadership and support for The Farm new build, practice facilities, clubhouse grounds, pool areas, and all properties owned or acquired by the club.
- Ensure playing surfaces meet established quality, conditioning, and performance standards year-round.
- Manage all irrigation and water systems, including scheduling, conservation practices, and system maintenance.
- Implement environmentally responsible turf management practices and comply with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Recruit, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate grounds staff.
- Bring a positive attitude to work everyday and support a great workplace culture.
- Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, and professional development.
- Work collaboratively with Assistant Superintendents and other Superintendents to align practices and maintain departmental standards.
- Plan and oversee chemical and fertilizer applications in accordance with agronomic plans and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor turf health, soil conditions, and plant health, making data-driven decisions to optimize course conditions.
- Lead and manage agronomic and capital improvement projects, including renovations, course enhancements, and new construction initiatives.
- Oversee equipment use, maintenance, and inventory management.
- Perform all other duties as assigned in support of the Grounds Department and club operations.
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform heavy physical labor for extended periods, including bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing.
- Full use of arms and hands to operate and inspect specialized turf equipment and machinery.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, with occasional lifting of 50+ pounds.
- Capacity to work outdoors in varied weather conditions—including heat, cold, and rain—across both day and night hours.
- Stamina to manage a demanding schedule during peak season, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions (heat, humidity, rain, snow) and materials, including chemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides (proper PPE and training provided).
- Work involves operating heavy machinery and power tools, and navigating inherent course hazards like uneven terrain, water features, and wildlife.
- Responsible for strictly following all safety protocols and ensuring team compliance with OSHA and all club safety standards.
