Job OverviewThe Manager, Business Development will support and execute business development and licensing (BD&L) activities for our Generics, 505(b)(2), and Biosimilars Business Unit (EMBU). This role is focused on execution and will work closely with senior BD leadership to identify, evaluate, and progress external opportunities that support portfolio expansion and strategic growth in the U.S. market. This is a technical, formulation-driven BD role that requires strong product development judgment rather than pure transaction-execution capabilities.
The candidate will have some experience in generics and 505(b)(2) BD&L processes and requires direct formulation and CMC development experience, with demonstrated R&D experience in injectable, transdermal, and/or oral dosage forms.
Main Responsibilities- Support BD&L activities from opportunity screening through deal execution, under the direction of senior BD leadership
- Lead and support hands‑on technical and formulation‑driven assessment of product development opportunities.
- Prior involvement in the preparation and execution of Pre‑IND meetings and other early‑stage FDA interactions (e.g., Type B/C) is strongly preferred.
- This position is not suitable for pure business or transaction‑only BD profiles.
- Conduct integrated scientific, technical, and commercial assessments in collaboration with CMC, R&D, regulatory, and external development partners.
- Support deal structuring, contract negotiations, and cross‑functional due diligence activities.
- Prepare technical and business case materials for internal BD and management reviews.
- Perform other additional responsibilities as required to support BD initiatives and departmental objectives
- Bachelor’s degree required in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or closely related discipline
- Master’s or PhD in pharmaceutics or related field a plus
- 4–6+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience with substantial hands‑on formulation and product development background.
- Experience with generics, 505(b)(2), and/or biosimilars preferred.
- Solid understanding of the pharmaceutical development lifecycle and U.S. regulatory pathways.
- Strong analytical, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Highly motivated, detail‑oriented and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
$90,000 to $110,000 per year base, plus STI.
The salary range for this role reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The salary range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc. Job Title is subject to change based on candidate experience.
The STI and BDI plans are based upon company and/or individual performance.
