Postdoctoral Research Associate - AI for Plasma Physics and Control
Location: Princeton, NJ
Salary Range: PDRA: $85,000 - $95,000; ARS: $105,000 - $120,000
We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate or more senior researcher at the intersection of artificial intelligence, signal processing, and plasma control. The successful candidate will join a leading AI for fusion research group, developing data‑driven methods to analyze and control fusion plasmas using large experimental datasets.
Research Areas- Machine learning for plasma diagnostics and real-time monitoring
- AI-enabled plasma control and instability prediction
- Data-driven modeling and surrogate models of plasma dynamics
- Signal processing and multimodal data fusion
- Ph.D. in computer science, physics, engineering, applied mathematics, or related field
- Strong experience in advanced machine learning, signal processing, or control
- Strong programming skills (Python/C/Matlab)
- Ability to conduct independent and collaborative research
The term of appointment depends on rank. Positions at the postdoctoral rank are for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance and continued funding. Those hired at more senior ranks may receive multi‑year appointments. Research staff are eligible for University benefits.
