Internship OverviewThe Cooperative Institute for Modeling the Earth System (CIMES) Research Internship Program is an 8–9 week paid earth science internship. Students will work directly in earth‑system science research, receiving mentorship from professionals and engaging in research discussions that strengthen technical skills and STEM career readiness.
Internship Areas- Improving the representation of general circulation and weather extremes in state‑of‑the‑art climate models
- Analysis of atmospheric composition simulated by ESM
4.1 driven by CMIP6 versus CMIP7 forcing data - Exploring how technology can automate data credit and data management for Earth system modeling
Participants will have access to high‑performance computing systems, attend seminars, and contribute to cutting‑edge climate modeling projects. The stipend ranges from $5,600 to $6,300 for a full‑time 40‑hour per week schedule.
