Associate Scientist:
Upstream Process Development

Proclinical is seeking an Upstream Process Development Scientist to support the development, characterization, and scale‑up of upstream viral vector manufacturing processes.

Primary Responsibilities

This role involves hands‑on execution of cell culture studies, data analysis, and troubleshooting in a laboratory setting. The ideal candidate will contribute to high‑quality experimental design and documentation while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Skills & Requirements
  • Hands‑on experience in upstream process development for viral vectors or therapeutic proteins, including suspension cell culture in shake flasks, lab‑scale stirred‑tank bioreactors, and rocker‑bag systems.
  • Familiarity with high‑throughput upstream process development platforms, such as the Am  system.
  • Strong background in cell culture process development, gained through academic or industry settings.
  • Ability to design experiments, analyze complex data, and effectively communicate findings.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of documentation and laboratory practices.
Associate Scientist Responsibilities
  • Conduct cell culture studies using shake flasks, stirred‑tank bioreactors, rocker‑bag systems, and high‑throughput bioreactor platforms.
  • Support process development, characterization, and scale‑up activities for upstream viral vector manufacturing.
  • Assist in qualifying scale‑down models to enable process characterization.
  • Design experiments, analyze data, and interpret results to inform process improvements.
  • Investigate laboratory issues and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and high‑quality documentation in paper or electronic lab notebooks.
Compensation
  • $30 to $38 per hour.
