Golf Shop Merchandiser/Manager

Responsible for assisting the Director of Golf / Head Golf Professional in overseeing the daily operations of the golf shop, including retail merchandising, inventory management, and customer service. This role plays a key part in enhancing the overall member and guest experience by ensuring a well‑organized and aesthetically appealing retail environment, managing inventory levels, and fostering strong relationships with customers.

Key Responsibilities Golf Shop Operations & Member Service
  • Assist with daily golf shop operations, including booking tee times, checking in golfers, and handling retail transactions.
  • Provide world‑class, individualized service to members, guests, and tournament participants.
  • Greet and welcome members and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Assist customers with merchandise selections, product knowledge, and special‑order requests.
  • Maintain a seamless special‑order process, ensuring timely fulfillment and accurate record‑keeping.
  • Oversee shop cleanliness, organization, and adherence to club standards.
Merchandising & Inventory Management
  • Implement and maintain effective merchandising plans to create an appealing shopping experience.
  • Ensure proper display, pricing, tagging, and organization of all golf shop merchandise.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Golf / Head Golf Professional to order, receive, and stock merchandise.
  • Monitor inventory levels, conduct regular inventory counts, and manage stock replenishment.
  • Maintain stockroom security and organization, tracking incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Process returns to vendors and obtain appropriate return authorizations and credits.
Sales & Staff Management
  • Promote sales through product knowledge, engagement, and excellent customer service.
  • Manage and help train golf shop staff in merchandising, inventory procedures, and customer service.
  • Assist in evaluating staff performance and providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Support corporate sales, group outings, and tournament prize distribution.
Administrative & Reporting Responsibilities
  • Maintain purchase order records, verify invoices, and ensure proper coding for payment.
  • Prepare monthly merchandise reports and assist with budget planning as needed.
  • Participate in special projects or other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands & Working Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; kneel; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, color vision, distance and peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Work schedule will be determined based on club needs and may include weekends, holidays, and peak golf season hours.
Qualifications & Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent; education in business, retail management, or a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a retail or golf shop setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of golf equipment, apparel, and retail trends is a plus.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and point‑of‑sale (POS) software.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience managing or mentoring a team is preferred.
