Princeton University Store is an independent omnichannel retailer serving the Princeton University community through two stores, ecommerce, campus events, and pop-up retail.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERSThe Receiving Manager ensures merchandise is received accurately, discrepancies between purchase orders and physical shipments are communicated promptly, inventory is stored safely, and product moves quickly to the sales floor. The role connects inventory accuracy with product availability, sales, omnichannel fulfillment, and customer experience.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE- Shipments are verified, processed, and completed accurately and on schedule.
- Stockrooms and receiving areas remain safe, organized, and free of unnecessary backlogs.
- Cycle counts and inventory records are accurate, with discrepancies researched and resolved promptly.
- The sales floor is consistently replenished and associates understand their priorities.
- Lead receiving from delivery through verification, processing, labeling, storage, inventory placement, and salesfloor replenishment.
- Resolve shortages, overages, damages, negative inventory, and other shipment or system discrepancies; communicate purchase order issues promptly.
- Maintain clear stockroom standards and lead replenishment based on demand, promotions, events, and business priorities.
- Complete cycle counts, inventory adjustments, returns, and physical inventory preparation with strong controls and documentation.
- Coach associates, assign daily workload, and hold the team accountable for safety, accuracy, productivity, and followthrough.
- Support customers, omnichannel fulfillment, merchandising updates, and Manageron Duty coverage as needed.
- Three or more years of receiving, inventory, warehouse, merchandising, or retailoperations experience.
- Previous supervisory or retailleadership experience.
- Working knowledge of shipment processing, replenishment, cycle counts, inventory control, and discrepancy resolution.
- Strong organization, communication, coaching, problem solving, and followthrough skills.
- Comfort with POS, inventory, ERP, shipping, reporting, and handheld systems.
- Ability to remain mobile, safely use approved receiving equipment, and regularly lift merchandise weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Own an essential operation that directly affects sales and customer experience.
