The Director, Strategic Alliances is a critical leadership role within Oncology Portfolio & Alliance Strategy (PAS), accountable for defining and executing the external alliance vision that advances BMS Oncology’s portfolio ambition. This role serves as the enterprise lead for strategic oncology alliances, shaping how BMS engages with leading academic institutions, external experts, and thought leaders across tumor types and modalities.

The Director acts as a central architect and integrator, ensuring that external insights are translated into actionable portfolio recommendations, inform key internal decision makers, and drive measurable enterprise impact across development and lifecycle strategy.
** Key Responsibilities
*** Define and continuously evolve the oncology strategic alliance model, shifting engagement from transactional interactions to long-range, portfolio-shaping collaborations aligned with BMS oncology strategy.
* Act as internal leader and architect for priority alliances, ensuring alignment with oncology/hematology portfolio priorities and long‐range strategy.
* Provide strategic leadership and oversight for SPARC (external thought leader) council & alliances strategy, governance, communications and engagements garnering insights that meaningfully inform portfolio decisions.
* Lead strategic engagement with priority academic partners (e.g., legacy alliances and new prospects), including joint data‐generation roadmaps and co‐development of proposals.
* Ensure alliance-derived insights are systematically integrated into
** key oncology decision forums** (e.g., portfolio prioritization, MEG, CDP, GPT) to influence asset strategy, prioritization, and investment decisions.
* Advance BMS’ organizational knowledge of the unique capabilities of key alliance partners
* Serve as liaison to the Professional Societies and Portfolio Strategy Leads to ensure support of key professional societies and congresses
** Qualifications & Experience
*** Advanced degree (Pharm

D, PhD, MD, etc.) in a scientific discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Minimum of 7–10+ years of experience in oncology drug development, medical strategy, portfolio strategy, or related roles, with demonstrated exposure to multiple tumor types or hematological malignancies and/or therapeutic modalities.
* Demonstrated credibility engaging senior external experts, academic investigators, and oncology thought leaders, with the ability to translate external insights into strategic recommendations.
* Strong understanding of oncology development pathways, biomarkers, and decision-making frameworks across early and/or late-stage development.
* Proven ability to lead strategically, influence without authority, and drive alignment across highly matrixed global organizations.
