Entry‑Level Geologist/Scientist (Princeton, New Jersey)
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis. No sponsorship is available for this position.
Tasks and Responsibilities- Coordinate and perform field tasks as part of environmental investigation and remediation projects at primarily industrial/hazardous waste sites in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and the NYC Metro Area. Field tasks may include sampling (soil, groundwater, sediment, air, etc.), subcontractor oversight (drilling, monitoring well installations, etc.), and site reconnaissance.
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to complete tasks.
- Complete detailed field documents such as job safety analysis forms, project field forms/reports, field notes, and chain‑of‑custody forms.
- Contribute to preparation of reports and other documentation, perform analytical data management, and assist in technical evaluations of data commensurate with technical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Access.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Good time management.
- Detail oriented.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Ability and willingness to work as a responsible, independent team player in a consulting environment, including the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Classwork or experience with engineering design, chemical fate and transport, hydraulic modeling, GIS mapping, and/or MS Project is a plus.
- GIT license (or eligibility/interest to obtain) preferred.
- Familiarity, or willingness to learn, NJDEP (including the Field Sampling Procedures Manual), PADEP, and USEPA regulatory requirements and Technical Guidance documents.
- B.S. or M.S. in Geology, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
- 0 to 3 years experience in technical and field investigation including soil/groundwater sampling, soil excavation oversight, well installations/development, soil vapor/indoor air sampling, subcontractor oversight, remedial activities, and other related techniques under state and federally regulated programs.
- Willing to travel up to 80% of the year and possess a valid driver's license. Travel may include overnight stay and may be out of state; duration may range from 1–10 days, depending on the specific project requirements.
- Physical requirements may include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing/sitting/walking, pushing/pulling, and lifting up to 40 lbs. Position may expose the candidate to extremes in weather (hot/cold), high noise levels, and hazards such as proximity to moving machine parts and vehicles, electrical current, and exposure to chemicals. Employees may be required to take specific training and to wear PPE on some occasions.
