Overview
The Maintenance Electrician will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical equipment, wiring, and lighting systems across various facilities. The role also involves some maintenance and facility work, ensuring systems operate efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
- Test, troubleshoot, and repair control panels, electric motors, and electrical equipment
- Isolate and repair issues in wiring, motors, and other electrical components
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical controls and motor control centers
- Bend and install rigid or PVC conduit
- Pull electrical cables and wires in conduit
- Utilize voltage and amperage measuring devices
- Travel between facilities to support daily operations
- Complete work orders for routine repairs, maintenance, and lighting/power installations
- Maintain equipment such as switch gear, generators, and lighting systems
- Assist in maintenance repairs and preventive maintenance of HVAC systems and related equipment
- Respond to after-hour emergencies
- Collaborate with outside contractors and vendors performing repairs or servicing equipment onsite
- Coordinate with onsite personnel including security, cleaning staff, and cafeteria personnel
- 8-10 years of experience in electrical maintenance or related field
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Active NJ Journeyman's electrical license
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to repair and maintain high voltage equipment up to 600 volts
- Knowledge of lockout/tagout procedures, NEC rules, and safety regulations
- Computer skills to interface with machinery programs
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently
- Strong communication, cooperation, and teamwork skills
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Experience with troubleshooting control panels and motor control centers
- Experience in maintenance work beyond electrical systems as indicated
