SummaryThe Facility System Technician reports to an Engineering Manager and performs a wide variety of duties to repair, maintain, and enhance the physical operation of the facility and its components.
Responsibilities- Troubleshooting – evaluate maintenance problems and take action to correct them efficiently and professionally.
- Mechanical – apply knowledge and demonstrate advanced competency in general mechanical maintenance, including repair of beds, hand controls, pillow speakers, small motors, medium appliances, and building elements.
- Electrical – apply knowledge and demonstrate advanced competency in general electrical maintenance, including change or repair of switches, outlets, plugs, lighting tubes, bulbs, ballasts, electrical safety checks, and repair of small to medium electrical equipment.
- Emergency duties – snow removal, fire response, and assistance during natural disasters in accordance with the Medical Center’s disaster plan.
- Plumbing – apply knowledge and demonstrate advanced competency in general plumbing maintenance, including rebuild or replacement of fixtures, unclogging drains, soldering copper pipe, and black pipe fabrication.
- Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning – apply knowledge and demonstrate advanced competency in HVAC/R maintenance, such as filter replacement, heater/AC unit repair, and preventive maintenance on large equipment.
- Paint and finish work – prep and paint surfaces, apply rubber cove base, replace damaged ceiling or floor tiles, and install flooring as required.
- Driver’s License (required)
- CDL license is a plus
- H.S. Diploma or GED
- Equivalent experience, including a four‑year apprenticeship
- Minimum 6 years of general maintenance experience or equivalent
- Experience in related specialty (electrical, plumbing, HVAC/R, etc.)
$22.01 – $35.08 per hour, based on experience and education.
