Utility Maintenance Mechanic

Utility Maintenance Mechanic Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Reports to Supervisor or assigned trades worker
• Completes service request in a timely manner
• Performs electrical maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs
• Repairs restroom fixtures and other minor plumbing duties
• Performs minor building equipment preventive maintenance
• Repairs sheet rock and spackles
• Spot paints common areas such as lobbies, freight elevator lobbies, restrooms, etc.
• Replaces ceiling tiles and other basic carpentry tasks
• Maintains cleanliness in and around all Building Operations Services facilities, including shops, boiler room, chiller room, electrical room, mechanical rooms, etc.
• Paints equipment rooms and machinery
• Receives deliveries for projects and controls delivery crew’s use of elevators
• Driving skills with up to a 1-1/2-ton truck
• Overtime and shift work may be required
• Perform any additional duties on an as-required basis within the scope of contractual obligations
• Safely use all types of related hand and power tools

• High school diploma
• Three years building maintenance experience
• Strength and dexterity to perform physically demanding duties as outlined
• Valid driver’s license as required to drive any assigned vehicles
• Knowledge of safe work practices and procedures typical of maintenance operations (e.g., wearing respirator, climbing ladders, entering confined spaces, lifting heavy objects)
