Siemens Foundational Technology (FT) is the central R&D department of Siemens, focused on future technologies across industry, infrastructure, mobility, and healthcare. The Software Systems and Processes team in Princeton, NJ, seeks an intern to support design, development, and testing of software artifacts in cloud environments.
Role SummaryThis full‑time internship lasts a minimum of three months. The intern will work on full‑stack development for cloud systems, focusing on AWS and Azure infrastructure to enable smart payments. The position offers hands‑on experience with industrial projects and professional mentorship in an international environment.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain, adapt, and enhance AWS and CI/CD infrastructure using Git Lab and AWS services (Lambda, ECS, Step Functions, managed databases).
- Design, develop, and integrate a user‑friendly management interface for the infrastructure.
- Develop automated testing frameworks for cloud‑based environments in AWS and Azure.
- Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams (backend developers, product managers) to deliver payment‑functionality prototypes integrated across products.
- Facilitate seamless integration of the payment infrastructure across product teams.
- Launch prototype applications demonstrating payment infrastructure using Mendix Low‑Code platform.
- Create integration components for out‑of‑the‑box compatibility with the infrastructure.
Required
:
Enrollment in a bachelor’s program in Computer Science or Engineering.
Preferred
:
Enrollment in a master’s program or background in Computer Science or a related field.
- Currently enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science, Web Development, or related discipline.
- Familiarity with AWS or Azure cloud platforms.
- Experience with front‑end and/or back‑end web frameworks, preferably Angular and Django.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Valid work authorization to work as an intern in the US for the duration of the internship.
- Experience maintaining CI/CD pipelines deployed to AWS.
- Competence with AWS infrastructure components (Lambda, API Gateway, ECS).
- Knowledge of automated testing practices and frameworks (pytest, unittest).
- Exposure to low‑code platforms such as Mendix.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively.
