Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Physical Education Teachers:
Current automated external defibrillator (AED) and CPR certificate - Special Knowledge/
Skills:
Knowledge of core academic subject assigned;
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction;
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior;
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills - Experience:
Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and show written evidence of preparation; provide accommodations for differences among individual students as required.
- Plan and use instructional strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology aligned to learning styles and needs; present subject matter according to TEA guidelines, board policies, and admin regulations.
- Conduct assessments of student learning styles and use results to plan instruction.
- Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for students with IEPs as needed.
- Coordinate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods per district requirements.
- Plan and assign work to instructional aides and volunteers and oversee completion.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Supervise extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor approved outside activities.
- Be a positive role model for students and support the school district’s mission.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students’ physical, social, and emotional development.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Take precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
- Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Compile, maintain, and file required reports and records.
- Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by district/campus administration.
