Education/

Qualifications:

Master's degree in experimental condensed matter Physics or other related field of study. A minimum of 0-6 months experience in designing, performing experiments involving Mass Spectroscopy and analyzing the results. Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered. All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

What You'll Do
  • Collaborate with chemists taking Native Mass Spectra for proteins and DNA and other macromolecules.
  • Develop, construct and model ion sources.
  • Develop experimental protocols, and develop analytical tools to better analyze the resulting spectra to understand more about the structure of these macromolecules.
  • Data Management and Sharing Plan for the grant. Data storage, backup, and dissemination.
  • Oversee the efforts of graduate students in record keeping and data storage for the project.
  • Work Hours:

    30 Hours per Week
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with chemists to take Native Mass Spectra for proteins and DNA, and analyze the resulting spectra to understand the structure of these macromolecules.
  • Develop experimental protocols and analytical tools, as well as oversee graduate students in data management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Expertise in general experimental techniques involving electronics and simple machining to fabricate prototype devices.
  • Computer programming using Python and MATLAB to manipulate and analyze data.
  • Familiarity with finite element modeling to simulate mechanical through molecular phenomena, and knowledge of machine learning.
