Role Description As an Independent Insurance Agent at Colonial Life, you will work on-site in the United States, supporting employers and employees with workplace benefits solutions. This role involves meeting with business owners and benefits decision-makers to explain Colonial Life’s offerings, conducting needs analyses, and recommending appropriate insurance products. You will educate employees on their benefit options, assist with enrollment using Colonial Life’s technology, and provide ongoing support for claims and policy questions.
The position includes prospecting and networking to build a client base, maintaining relationships with existing accounts, and staying current on product updates and industry trends. This is a commission-based role with flexibility and autonomy, focused on growing your book of business while delivering high-quality service to clients.
Qualifications
- Ability to build relationships with employers and employees, communicate clearly, and provide excellent customer service.
- Strong sales, negotiation, and prospecting skills, with the capacity to identify opportunities and close new business.
- Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple accounts, enrollment schedules, and follow-up activities.
- Comfort with technology, including enrollment platforms, CRM tools, and standard office software.
- Willingness to learn about Colonial Life’s products and the broader employee benefits landscape.
- Active or obtainable state insurance license (life and health) as required by local regulations.
- Ability to work on-site, travel locally to client locations, and operate independently with minimal supervision.
- Prior experience in insurance, financial services, sales, or related fields is beneficial but not required.
