Job Summary

Provides community support to families utilizing the Welcome Center services including, but not limited to: bi-lingual customer service, district information and orientation, district and community education program registration processes, and early childhood screening. Assist with providing a culturally inclusive and welcoming environment by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Welcome Center & District Orientation
  • Greets visitors, ascertains nature of business, and directs visitor to appropriate person or programs.
  • Assists patrons via telephone in making connections to staff, buildings, and/or district programs.
  • Identifies common themes of customers' inquiries and recommends any necessary information sessions and/or communications to the Director of Special Programs.
Bi-Lingual Support
  • Provides bi-lingual support to patrons and as needed.
  • Prepares and translates correspondences as directed.
  • Interprets at meetings and sessions upon request of the Director of Special Programs.
  • Records school messages in language(s) other than English.
  • Advises the Director of Special Programs on needed modifications or new services necessary in order to better service multi-lingual families.
Family & District Communications
  • Maintains all aspects of communications for the Welcome Center including, but not limited to: mailings, reports, databases, records, forms, letters, school correspondences, attendance, memorandums, and other materials.
  • Assists with advertising and other promotional materials and marketing ideas for school and District communications.
Program & Services Support
  • Receives and processes registrations through a variety of available formats.
  • Assists the early childhood screening process by coordinating appointments and schedules of the various stakeholders.
  • Provides support for district census and enrollment.
  • Maintains data related to student files, school event calendars, and other information related to Welcome Center and district needs.
Welcome Center/Community Education Support & Other
  • Attend all in-services, workshops, orientation, and staff meetings.
  • Maintains schedule of trainings and meetings.

Performs other work related duties as assigned

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of three years providing customer service preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, grammar, and computer skills are required.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, other staff, students, and members of the public is essential for success.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read, speak, and write proficiently in English and Spanish required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write basic correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Must have current Driver's License.
